Didn't like character development. Problems, mentioned in the book were touched lightly or completely lost and forgotten. Didn't understand why they replaced a dam building scene with swimming. Too predictable and banal, I expected more from the film.
I like Balabanov's movies, but this film left me indifferent.
I loved this movie when I was a child, and I still like it. But now it's easy to notice some similarities with the Japanese anime and this spoils the overall impression (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimba_the_White_Lion).
