With Let Him Go now playing in theaters, I recently had the opportunity to talk with writer-director Thomas Bezucha about making the fiery thriller. Based on the novel of the same name by Larry Watson, Let Him Go follows a retired sheriff named George Blackledge (Kevin Costner) and his wife Margaret (Diane Lane) who set out to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy (Lesley Manville). When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are …
Chances are you are familiar with Michael Giacchino’s peerless work as one of the most exciting film composers working today. Whether it’s his scores for big budget Hollywood fare like Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol or War for the Planet of the Apes (which we picked as one of the very best scores of the past 10 years), Pixar classics like Up, Coco and Inside Out, Marvel favorites like Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Homecoming or more esoteric fare like Let Me In and the deeply underrated Bad Times at the El Royale, Giacchino always comes through with something …

Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino revealed in a recent interview with Collider’s Adam Chitwood that he and longtime collaborator Brad Bird are indeed still working on a movie musical. The conversation, part of a brand new series of remote interviews called Collider Connected, covered everything from Giacchino’s short film Monster Challenge (which he just uploaded to YouTube for everyone to watch free-of-charge) to his upcoming work on Matt Reeves’ The Batman. When asked for an update about the musical, Giacchino confirmed that it is definitely still happening, but that he and Bird are still in …
When it comes to iconic film franchises, Batman is unique in the sense that there's not really one musical theme that defines the character. Sure, there are plenty of cues that immediately conjure the caped crusader to mind, but from Neil Hefi's groovy TV theme to Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and all the animated adventures in between, Batman's sound has evolved with each new incarnation. The next composer to take the mantle is Michael Giacchino, who's re-teaming with director Matt Reeves after their work on Let Me In and the last two Planet of the …
Doing his part to help out everyone currently isolating to ride out the coronavirus pandemic, Michael Giacchino uploaded his short film Monster Challenge to YouTube, where you can watch it right this second for absolutely free. Giacchino, primarily known for his work as a composer on films like The Incredibles, the Jurassic World series, and the upcoming Matt Reeves film The Batman, announced his intention to release his 2018 comedy short earlier this week on Twitter. https://twitter.com/m_giacchino/status/1240357634315706368?s=20 The short stars Patton Oswalt as a fictional version of himself, who gets roped into filming …

Composer Michael Giacchino will complete the Jurassic World trilogy. The Oscar-winning musician has signed on to compose the score for the third film in the reborn franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion. The news comes courtesy of Film Music Reporter, but it’s not a massive surprise. Jurassic World co-writer/director Colin Trevorrow enlisted Giacchino to pick up where John Williams left off and compose the score for the 2015 reboot/sequel, and Giacchino subsequently scored Trevorrow’s 2017 drama The Book of Henry and the J.A. Bayona-helmed sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Frankly it’d be surprising …
By now, we have all undoubtedly watched Matt Reeves' delicious The Batman camera test, revealing Robert Pattinson in his deliciously costumed glory, about 9,000 times. We've soaked in his jawline, the Bat symbol breast plate's stylishly frayed qualities, the woozy, hazy red DP Greig Fraser cast everything in. It's all great! But, listen up. Literally. As composer Michael Giacchino actually scored this camera test with what's either going to be some music we'll hear in the final cut, some experimental demos that will develop into what we'll hear in the final cut, or …
The Batman snags Michael Giacchino to compose the score of the film, which will mark yet another collaboration between Giacchino and Matt Reeves.
A day after Matt Reeves' The Batman announced Paul Dano, the most Riddler-looking motherf*cker alive, would play The Riddler, the latest Dark Knight tale added yet another big name to the crew. During a concert at Royal Albert Hall in London, England, Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino accepted Reeves' offer to join the film as composer. Warner Bros. hasn't officially announced the news, but the update comes courtesy of Cinema Savvy, who had eyes in the crowd. Matt Reeves came out during the concert and asked Michael Giacchino to compose the Batman film!!! Witnessed at the Royal Albert …
We at Collider are excited to bring you an exclusive preview of Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s score for Spider-Man: Far from Home. Giacchino returns to the franchise after putting a terrific spin on the iconic comics character for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and this time around he gets to bring Mysterio to the table. “I was thrilled to return to one of my favorite Marvel characters, Peter Parker,” said Giacchino in a statement. “Spider-Man: Far From Home follows the harrowing events of Endgame and focuses on Peter having to deal with the void that Iron Man left …
In response to a non-story stirred up by an unfounded rumor regarding composer credit for Captain Marvel, Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up) had to head to social media to confirm that, no, he did not actually compose the score to Marvel's latest blockbuster. That credit, as was officially and responsibly reported, goes to Pinar Toprak, Marvel's first female composer and, as of the first weekend box office for Captain Marvel, also the top-grossing female composer. Now there may have been some shade of truth to the original rumor before it got blown out of proportion …
