The Fall Guy is a movie about the stunt profession and it includes a world record stunt.
Two-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling is set to star in an untitled stuntman drama from director David Leitch and screenwriter Drew Pearce, who previously worked together on the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Universal Pictures won a heated seven-figure auction for the project, reportedly beating out Netflix, MGM, Sony and Lionsgate. Of course, Leitch has a first-look deal at Universal, giving that studio the edge. Gosling will produce with Leitch and his 87North partner Kelly McCormick, as well as Guymon Casady of Entertainment 360, which is the content arm of Management 360. Though the project …
Looks like Brad Pitt has lined up his first post-Oscar-win acting gig, as he is set to star in Sony Pictures’ thriller Bullet Train for John Wick director David Leitch (per Variety). The movie is based on a Japanese novel called Maria Beetle by Japanese author Kotaro Isaka. The second part of his “hitman trilogy,” the screenplay will be written by Zak Olkewicz and supervised by Leitch. (Variety’s report notes that an English translation of the novel will be released sometime next year.) The book’s plot concerns five assassins that all find themselves on the same …
David Leitch, the director of high-octane action sequels Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw, has signed on to direct the action thriller Bullet Train for Sony Pictures, Collider can confirm. Zak Olkewicz (Fear Street) will write the script, which will be based on the popular Japanese manga. I have to say, Leitch and I must share the same taste, as my friend Pete Freedman and I have been working on a fake Speed sequel titled Sp33d 3: Bullet Train since at least 2017. There has been talk of several bullet trains being built between in-state U.S. cities, …
Last week I conducted a live interview with directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch for our new series Collider Connected. As you’ve hopefully seen in our previous episodes, Collider Connected allows us to go in-depth with our subjects due to the length of the conversations, and this discussion with Stahelski and Leitch was no different. Even though we had talked about the interview running around 45 minutes, we hit the 90-minute mark and I still had questions! I would have kept it going, but Leitch was late for a meeting. If for some reason you're unfamiliar …
Wait, why the heck isn’t there a stunt category at the Oscars? That question has become a major talking point and rallying point for cinephiles in recent years, and it’s easy to understand why. When you consider the enormous presence and importance of films like Star Wars, the Fast & Furious franchise, and the MCU at the box office and in the landscape of cinema at large, it’s pretty dang crazy that the crew members responsible for some of those films’ most iconic scenes aren’t getting awards recognition on par with their peers. So what’s …
If you haven't seen Speed Racer, the 2008 big-screen adaptation of the popular, influential anime from filmmakers The Wachowskis (The Matrix), you simply must experience it. It's a wild, candy-coated fever dream of spectacle, technology, and huge heart. It looks like no other movie you've ever seen, I promise you that. And in our Collider Connected live interview conducted by our own Steve Weintraub with David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) and Chad Stahelski (John Wick 1-3), who worked as stunt coordinators, performers, and third-unit directors on Speed Racer, share some of the …
During today's live Collider Connected interview, stunt maestros turned directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch revealed they're helping out with Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4. Both Stahelski and Leitch were involved with the groundbreaking stunts on the original Matrix trilogy—Stahelski actually doubled for Keanu Reeves—before going on to co-create the John Wick franchise and, in Leitch's case, direct Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw. "It's definitely, from what I know of it, it's incredibly fun," Stahelski said. "I think if you're a fan of the original trilogy you're gonna …
David Leitch, the director of Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2, is set to produce the amnesia-themed movie Fast and Loose for STX with his 87North partner Kelly McCormick, reports Deadline. Jon and Erich Hoeber (The Meg) wrote the script, which follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory. As he follows a string of clues to uncover his identity, he discovers that he’s been living two different lives on opposite sides of the law -- one as a wealthy crime kingpin surrounded by beautiful women, and the other as …
As you hopefully noticed over the past month, we recently launched a new live interview series called Collider Connected, in which we conduct an interview live on our YouTube channel. We’ve had Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (watch that here), two-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (watch that here), Will Forte (watch that here), Kaitlyn Dever (watch that here), and Joe Pantoliano (watch that here). For our next episode, I’m going to be conducting an in-depth conversation with directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch! David Leitch is set to bring his action chops to an iconic martial arts property.
Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch has locked in his next project and it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Staying true to his action roots, Leitch has signed on to a live-action remake of the 1972 series Kung Fu, which starred David Carradine and ran for three seasons on ABC. [caption id="attachment_868103" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via ABC[/caption] According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has optioned the rights to the Kung Fu TV series. The studio is re-teaming with Leitch following the success of 2019's Hobbs & Shaw as …
An interview with Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch about future Fast & Furious spinoffs, a TV series, Marvel movies, and delving into horror.
What would happen if three of the baddest guys on screen went toe to toe?
The accomplished director is willing to take a much smaller job.
Director David Leitch worked with the Wachowski sisters on the first Matrix sequels. Now, he wants to return for The Matrix 4.
