The Nightmare Before Christmas

Halloween Town is a fantasy world populated by various monsters and beings associated with the holiday ("This is Halloween"). Jack Skellington, the well-respected "Pumpkin King," leads the town in organizing the annual Halloween celebrations. Unknown to the citizens, however, he is bored with the same annual routine and wants to try something new ("Jack's Lament"). While wandering in the woods the next morning, he encounters several trees containing doors, which lead to other holiday-themed worlds (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day). He stumbles through the door leading to Christmas Town, whose bright colors and cheerful atmosphere contrast sharply with the funereal Halloween Town, and quickly falls in love with the new and exciting holiday ("What's This").
