An unhappy newlywed Lina battles with her mother-in-law, Katherine, who is also her adoptive mother, while caring for her ill husband ( her former stepbrother). At the beginning of the film we see an unknown person using blinks to communicate with a nurse, saying that someone has tried to murder them.
