In a world overtaken by a virus that turns people into zombies within 48 hours, a family (Andy, Kay, and their one-year-old daughter, Rosie) are living safely on a houseboat in rural Australia. They discuss when they should go to shore to collect food rations. While steering, Andy spots a family and attempts to make contact, but the father flashes a gun. Later Andy spots an abandoned sailboat and investigates it. He retrieves food, and on his return reassures Kay that it was safe.
