cole added their review for Ideal Home: While beautifully depicting New Mexico and a quality production overall, I couldn't help but feel the characters were miscast, Paul Rudd especially. You could tell he was pretending to be gay, which likely offends the many gay men in Hollywood who would have been a better fit. Generally speaking, there were few laugh-out-loud moments, and while the dialogue has its witty banter at times, the storyline never goes to great lengths to evoke any real emotion. The film is more lighthearted drama than comedy.
