I finally watched Airplane! for the first time, and all I could think was WTF.
Greta Gerwig's Barbie was one of the biggest movies of 2023, so why did she get snubbed for Best Director?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has arrived, and yes, it has lots of Doctor Strange in it. And it has lots of Multiverse, too. As for the Madness part, well… do WTF Questions count in that regard? Because it has plenty of those too.
With Sony's Morbius movie starring Jared Leto as Marvel's Living Vampire now in theaters, we point out some oddities in the story and try to answer some of the film's biggest lingering questions.
SPOILERS WITHIN! While Spider-Man: No Way Home juggled most of its many complicated story elements more successfully than not, we still left with some big questions afterward that had us asking “WTF?”
Candyman's Nia DaCosta recounted having a weird experience with bees during the making of the horror movie.
While we enjoyed Wonder Woman 1984, it left us with some big questions that left us scratching our heads. We do our best to answer them by turning to our interview with director Patty Jenkins, the comics, and our own geeky intuition.
So there I was, just mindlessly tapping away on my daily mobile game addiction, and I was interrupted by a regularly occurring, in-game currency-earning ad. These are usually the quick-hit 30 to 60-second spots advertising the latest mobile game, Quibi show (RIP), or insurance company, but this one grabbed my attention ... in all the wrong ways. Kudos to the marketing team behind the ad for Slotomania, a top-grossing mobile slot game from Israel's Playtika. They somehow wrangled Emmy/Golden Globe-winner John Goodman to star in a promo spot for the app; crazier still, …
After three full episodes with no mention of him, Westworld’s Man in Black (Ed Harris) finally returned to our screens in “The Mother of Exiles”, though his story is one that initially feels largely separated from Season 3’s main narrative. His character seems unlikely to prove necessary to Dolores’ plot to gain access to the superpowered AI Rehoboam. His previously espoused feelings about hosts and host consciousnesses don’t really jive with the more tribal views of his mysterious new rival, the enigmatic Engerraund Serac (Vincent Cassel). Instead, William’s mental struggle and deterioration seems tied to the …
One of the more confusing sequences in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the "Knightmare Sequence". It's unclear what exactly is happening: is it a premonition? An alternate future? Can Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) see the future in his dreams? And then why did Flash (Ezra Miller) suddenly appear with a warning but was also "too soon"? What exactly is going on? Here's the video in case you need a brief refresher, although it leaves out the Flash part. Since we all have an inordinate amount of free time right now, Snyder did a …
The Iron Mask may have one of the most bizarre trailers in recent memory, but we explain why Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan aren't actually the stars of the movie.
Parasite is a suspenseful drama about class issues. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, this film has plenty of moments that will make you go, "WTF?"
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is back with its third season (or “Part 3" as Netflix would prefer you call it) and, inspired by the Archie Horror comics, the series has now firmly settled into its darker, weirder take on the much-beloved Spellman witches. The series first season was a charming seasonal thrill, perfectly timed to the All Hallows spirit. Still, it was also a bit of a wonky launch, with characters that didn’t feel quite there yet (except Michelle Gomez’s perfect performance as Lilith, all hail), an intriguing aesthetic that was falling just short of its zpotential, …
One of the most notorious sequels in recent memory had an uncredited assist from some comedy greats, as it turns out. Michael Bay’s exhausting, epic 2003 sequel Bad Boys II has a reputation for being the most movie. It’s nearly two and a half hours long, it’s chock full of about 200 locations, and the set pieces just. keep. coming. In hindsight this was merely a warm-up for Bay’s incomprehensible Transformers sequels, but as it stands Bad Boys II is still a fascinating example of a director with unlimited resources at his disposal just throwing …
