Bullet Train and Top Gun: Maverick led a slow weekend at the domestic box office that saw no new films break into the top five.
J.J. Abrams reported to serve as executive producer on a new, live-action Speed Racer.
Jerry Bruckheimer has even more stories from the Top Gun: Maverick set that paint co-star Tom Cruise as a full speed professional.
Michael Bay’s Ambulance has been out for several weeks, and now an actual high speed pursuit involving an ambulance has happened.

After several delays, Top Gun: Maverick finally feels like it's landed a permanent release date, especially with a huge screening rumored to be secured.
Liam Neeson has found his latest action vehicle with a one-word title, as he's set to star in the revenge thriller Retribution, although this time, he won't be the one out for revenge. See, Retribution is a remake of a Spanish film about a businessman who finds himself thrust into a Speed-like situation when he gets a phone call telling him there's a bomb in his car and he needs to do exactly what the bomber says or else it will explode. The twist? The businessman's two children are in the car with him. …
It’s nearly here. The long, sad drought of 2020 is almost over, and new episodes of The Mandalorian are on the horizon. The Jon Favreau-created series, which was not only the first-ever live-action Star Wars television show but also one of the premiere series for the brand-new Disney streaming platform Disney+, was a sensation right out of the bat, thanks largely to its winning combination of oversized action, technological breakthroughs, and utter adorableness (in the form of Baby Yoda). Not only was the show a refreshingly look at an uncharted part of the Star Wars …
Amid a slew of release date changes across Hollywood, Paramount has announced it will release Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in theaters on April 8, 2022. The sequel will bring back the filmmaking team from the first film, as Jeff Fowler will return to direct from a script by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara will produce the second Sonic movie, while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller will serve as executive producers. Ben Schwartz, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter are expected to reprise their roles, but what remains unclear at this stage …
Though Ghost Games' racing title Need for Speed: Heat came out for PS4, Xbox One, and PC last fall, as of the game's final update tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9th), racers on any of those platforms will be able to play together thanks to crossplay support. The 24th installment in the Need for Speed franchise celebrated the overall brand's 25th anniversary last year, but this update marks a few milestones of its own: It'll be the first-ever game developed by EA to offer cross-platform support, and it'll also be a launch point for the franchise'…
Last week I conducted a live interview with directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch for our new series Collider Connected. As you’ve hopefully seen in our previous episodes, Collider Connected allows us to go in-depth with our subjects due to the length of the conversations, and this discussion with Stahelski and Leitch was no different. Even though we had talked about the interview running around 45 minutes, we hit the 90-minute mark and I still had questions! I would have kept it going, but Leitch was late for a meeting. If for some reason you're unfamiliar …
If you haven't seen Speed Racer, the 2008 big-screen adaptation of the popular, influential anime from filmmakers The Wachowskis (The Matrix), you simply must experience it. It's a wild, candy-coated fever dream of spectacle, technology, and huge heart. It looks like no other movie you've ever seen, I promise you that. And in our Collider Connected live interview conducted by our own Steve Weintraub with David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) and Chad Stahelski (John Wick 1-3), who worked as stunt coordinators, performers, and third-unit directors on Speed Racer, share some of the …
Top Gun: Maverick is flying into theaters a little faster than planned.
Paramount Pictures has a winner on its hands with Sonic the Hedgehog, the movie adaptation of the popular Sega video game of the same name. Parks & Recreation alum Ben Schwartz lends his voice to this wee speedster mammal while Jim Carrey steps into the role of his mad scientist enemy, Robotnik. Oh, and of course James Marsden is along for the ride as a local sheriff who befriends Sonic and must help him defeat Robotnik before it's too late. Classic. [caption id="attachment_875191" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via Paramount Pictures[/caption] Sonic the Hedgehog hit $57 million …
If you're still looking for the first great film adaptation of a video game, I regret to inform you that Sonic the Hedgehog is not it. While the title character certainly looks far better than his horrifying first iteration, the overall film fits neatly into a safe buddy, road-trip comedy that kids can enjoy with a recognizable video game mascot being silly. While some video game properties have started to lean into their weirdness like Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and The Angry Birds Movie, Jeff Fowler's adaptation works to be as palatable as possible, and on that level, …
